Average Bench: 71.8% (362nd of 1442)

Based on 30,050 user benchmarks.  Device: 178BFBFF00800F11 Model: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Eight-Core Processor

The Ryzen 7 1800X is AMD's flagship Ryzen CPU. Clocked at 3.6 GHz with a turbo frequency of 4.0 GHz (stock) this chip offers a staggering level of multi-core performance. Comparing the 1800X with the Intel i7-6850K shows that the 1800X delivers 25% more multi-core throughput than its more expensive counterpart. Historically AMD's CPU architecture has had a much lower IPC than Intel's and consequently Intel have dominated the CPU market since 2009. Comparing IPC between Intel's Kaby Lake and Ryzen shows a maximum gap of just 9%. A very welcome shake-up of the CPU market will unfold as the remaining Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 models are rolled out. For now the 1800X offers workstation users similar processing power to a $1,000 i7-6900K at half the price. [Mar '17 CPUPro]

Still a powerful chip that can be had very cheaply now. However, it requires a 3rd party cooler, some chips had Linux bugs, and has limited memory clocking. The 3700X outclasses this in every way, so skip over this now unless someone is selling one of these dirt cheap.

its ok because the benchmark of 7700K were over-clocked mostly at 5ghz vs 4ghz ryzen, games benchmark mostly use 4cores so its evident on gaming that 7700k is ahead by 1ghz but in daily usage, ryzen beats 7700k with more threads and effective use. I prefer ryzen due I dont game alot and whats the difference in 10fps in gaming like 120fps vs 110fps lol well my screen only use 60fps

It is not serious to put this Beast, the fastest 8 core CPU in the world on 7th position! In so many benchmarks and tests R7 1800X outperforms 6900K and even 6950K (10C/20T) sometimes. This processor deserve the 1st or 2nd position. In addition 1800X brakes 2 world records - for multi-trading performance and clock speed (overclock) on all cores/treads!—Mar '17

Very good CPU, will handle whatever you throw at it, however, requires a very good cooler in order to stay cool.

it sucks, buy a potato instead it will outlast this by at least a decade

As a owner of this CPU, i found that it does everything that a current competitive FPS gamer would want and then some more / A LOT more. The 1700 is a top-notch pick, but i chose this one for it's extra clock-range as i do a lot of heavy work. The PROBLEM however is that you must find A: A game that is well-designed. And B: The game must produce a VERY high framerate beyond a framerate cap. The X-Factor: E-sport games ALWAYS adapt to new technology and evolve. More cores will be taken into use, leaving the owner of a 1800x only to think about what GPU he now might desire. I personally prefer market balance along with my to-be bought VEGA GPU and FPS games, so i must go for Team red. But the tighter frame-times truly has made my old 7970 GPU perform in CS, 1080p, on an unreal level. Sitting at a frequent snappy 240 min fps, or 300 average, only using 4 cores (!), this is what future-proofing looks like.—Apr '17

The current system benchmarks of the Ryzen chipset is not 100% correct. Currently all motherboard manufactures have some issues with optimisation and example cannot run with the fastest ram. Also the cpu optimatsation is not yet 100% either.. Just saying the ryzen 1800 and other ryzen products will perform better in 1-3-5 month than the first userbenchmarks that we see. But so far excellent bang for the money and very promising chipset/cpu ect. By the way the comparison of the intel 7700 vs ryzen 1800x will show a rather different result if only run the 1800ryzen with 4 cores just like the 7700, try it and you see the ryzen will do better when just using 4 cores.—Apr '17

An amazing comeback by AMD, bringing good performing octo-core and better performing SMT at relatively affordable prices. Sure it might not have the best possible single core performance (vs some of intel's higher clocked parts), but honestly, at the level it performs, it doesn't matter. I got it for workstation tasks + gaming. Blows away rendering, and I'm playing games (not shooters) on 4K, so I'm gpu bound anyhow. Also, having the boatloads of extra cores means I can do things like play games AND render 3D or process big datasets at the same time!
