Average Bench: 45.7% (136th of 714)

Based on 261,163 user benchmarks.  Device: 1002 67DF Models: Radeon (TM) RX 480 Graphics, AMD Radeon (TM) RX 480, Radeon(TM) RX 480, ASUS Radeon (TM) RX 480

The RX 480 is the first graphics card to feature AMD’s new 14nm Polaris architecture. The card is due for release on June 29 (in four days time). We don’t have all the details yet but the RX 480 is rumoured to have an MSRP of $199 and it will likely perform on a par with the Nvidia GTX 970. At present we only have one benchmark so although the performance figures are provisional the RX 480 and GTX 970 do appear to be closely matched. If further tests validate these results and the cards retail at the MSRP of $199, then the new RX 480 will effectively improve graphics card price/performance ratios by a whopping 23%, something that has not happened since the release of the Maxwell based Nvidia GTX 970 nearly two years ago. In addition to better price/performance for the current generation of games, the RX 480 also offers relatively strong DX12 support. [Jun '16 GPUPro]

Below average average bench

The AMD RX 480 averaged 54.3% lower than the peak scores attained by the group leaders. This isn't a great result which indicates that there are much faster alternatives on the comparison list.

Strengths

Avg. Locally-deformable PRT (Bat) 56.3fps
Avg. NBody particle system (Galaxy) 65.2fps

Very good consistency

The range of scores (95th - 5th percentile) for the AMD RX 480 is just 17.2%. This is a relatively narrow range which indicates that the AMD RX 480 performs reasonably consistently under varying real world conditions.

Weaknesses

Avg. High dynamic range lighting (Teapot) 59.8fps
Avg. Parallax occlusion mapping (Stones) 80.6fps

Really decent bang for your buck, still decent for gaming in 2021, some of the blower fans are a little loud, so i wont give it 5 stars, but price to performance, as well as a big features list, earns it the other 4

It's really fast sure, but the 1060 is faster and a little cheaper. I would go for the 1060 6gb gaming x!

1080p and 2k monster. Nothing else to say. Get it if you dont have the buck to get anything from nVidia.

Best card for the money/future right now for who does not want to spend over $300 for a graphics card. Stock and availability is currently low but will be fixed on September. Will outperform a higher priced GTX 1060 in DX12 and Vulcan games by 20fps but tends to slightly drag itself behind in DX11 and OpenGL games due to very recent driver support. AMD cards tend to improve by 25% in DX11 and OpenGL after 6 months of driver maturity just like the previous x80 cards. Crossfire support is available unlike the GTX 1060 and if you want similar performance for slightly less money, get the 4GB version.

An outstanding GPU. I got one to benchmark in the 99th percentile. Super quiet, 30% fan speed at 75c and inaudible while gaming. I got the sapphire nitro+

Really fast. Runs most modern games on ultra graphics, unless bottlenecked by cpu.

Nitro+ 4gb from Sapphire. Runs cool and silent. Better power efficiency if undervolted. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Excellent

Best bang for the buck from the Radeon line. Superseded by the 580 and 570 which maintained a solid value, but this was the granddaddy that started the trend. Great mid-tier card and the budget king.

Excellent

best graphics card I ever had, tho needed some tunning as Sapphire tuned it to be silent over power. Undervolted by -65mV, powerlimit increased to +39% and tuned fan speed so card never reaches 78 degrees, because at that temperature card throttle down gpu frequency...After all of this it is beast yet bit less power hungry :D

Good GPU, runs games well, can't beat the price. Only complaint is that it gets hot at times, but that usually doesn't affect performance.

Can't beat the price to performance now that the card is two years old. Picked it up for $112 with free shipping on the 4gb model.
